SOBI2 Demo Site

The "Radius Distance Search" plugin for SOBI2 allows you to add proximity search easily to your existing search form in SOBI2.

The visitor on your page just has to enter his zip code, select the maximum distance from it in miles or kilometres and he will get all matching SOBI2 entries, considering the standard SOBI2 search results.

The plugin is easy to install. It integrates itself completely in SOBI2 using the SOBI2 plugin interface. No SOBI2 core code modifications are necessary.

The coordinates which are needed for the calculation of the distances are got from the Open Geo Database of GeoNames. You want to use your own or another database? No problem. Contact us and we are going to implement the database for you.
There is no need to connect continuously an external server for calculating the distances because the geographical database used for the calculation is available locally.

Simplified handling using the autocomplete function written in AJAX technology.

There are different search methods available. The most exact method is the seach by geographical coordinates . With this method the geographical coordinates stored for each entry will be used for the search. See our SOBI2 FAQ section for an easy way to get the coordinates for the SOBI2 entries.
Also the search by postal codes method is available. For a national directory only the postal code is needed in an entry, for an international directory additionally a country code is necessary.
